AI Assistants (MCP)
Connect Claude, Cursor, VS Code and other AI coding assistants to SignCare's MCP server, so they answer from these docs, check your requests and write integration code.
SignCare runs an MCP server at mcp.signcare.io. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants call tools. Once you connect your assistant, it can:
- answer questions from the SignCare docs, with a link to the exact page and section;
- check a request body against the real API rules before you send it;
- write integration code (cURL, JavaScript, Python, PHP) and webhook receivers;
- explain an error from its status and response body, and say whether to retry;
- plan a multi-step flow, such as full digital KYC or eSign with eStamp.
https://mcp.signcare.io/mcp — Streamable HTTP. No install. The first time you connect, you sign in with your SignCare account; no SignCare API key is needed. The tools only read documentation; they never call the SignCare API.
Sign in
The first time you connect, your assistant opens a browser window:
Allow the app
A SignCare page shows which app is connecting and what it can and cannot do. Choose Continue to sign in.
Sign in to SignCare
The usual SignCare login opens at identity.signcare.io. If you are already signed in, this takes one click.
Back to your assistant
The browser returns you to your assistant, and the SignCare tools are ready.
- Any SignCare account works: the same login you use for the SignCare Console. No API key, and no special access is needed.
- You stay signed in for a day. After that, your assistant asks you to sign in again.
- Signing in only lets the assistant read the SignCare docs. It can't see your password, see or change your account or data, call the SignCare API, or use your credits.
- Only continue on the SignCare page if you just asked your assistant to connect to SignCare.
Connect your assistant
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http signcare https://mcp.signcare.io/mcpAdd --scope user to use it in every project. Then start a new session and run /mcp. The first time, signcare shows as needing authentication: select it, choose Authenticate and sign in. It should then be listed as connected, with 11 tools.
Claude (web and desktop app)
Open Connectors
In Claude, open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
Add SignCare
Name: SignCare. URL: https://mcp.signcare.io/mcp. Leave the OAuth client ID and secret empty: Claude registers itself.
Connect and sign in
Click Connect, then sign in with your SignCare account.
Turn it on in a chat
In a new chat, enable SignCare from the tools menu, then ask your question.
Custom connectors depend on your Claude plan, and on a Team or Enterprise plan your admin may need to allow them.
Cursor
Add this to .cursor/mcp.json in your project (or ~/.cursor/mcp.json for all projects):
{
"mcpServers": {
"signcare": {
"url": "https://mcp.signcare.io/mcp"
}
}
}VS Code (GitHub Copilot agent mode)
Add this to .vscode/mcp.json, or run MCP: Add Server from the Command Palette and choose HTTP:
{
"servers": {
"signcare": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.signcare.io/mcp"
}
}
}Then open Copilot Chat in Agent mode and check that the SignCare tools are enabled.
Windsurf
Add this to ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"signcare": {
"serverUrl": "https://mcp.signcare.io/mcp"
}
}
}Other clients
Any client that supports MCP over Streamable HTTP can use https://mcp.signcare.io/mcp. A client that only starts local (stdio) servers can connect through the mcp-remote bridge (needs Node.js):
{
"mcpServers": {
"signcare": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://mcp.signcare.io/mcp"]
}
}
}Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and mcp-remote open the same sign-in window the first time they connect.
To try the tools by hand, run npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector, choose Streamable HTTP, enter the URL and sign in when asked.
What to ask
Ask in plain words. The assistant picks the tools itself.
| You ask | What happens |
|---|---|
| "How do I verify a PAN with SignCare?" | Finds the endpoint, lists every field and rule, and links the docs |
| "Write production Python code for PAN verification" | Generates code with environment-variable credentials, a timeout and safe retries |
| "Is this request body right?" (paste it) | Checks fields, formats and conditional rules, and suggests a corrected body |
| "I got this error, what does it mean?" (paste the response) | Explains the cause, the fix, and whether retrying is safe |
| "Build a webhook receiver for DigiLocker in Node" | Generates a receiver that verifies X-SignCare-Signature and ignores duplicate deliveries |
| "Plan an onboarding flow with a selfie" | Returns a step-by-step flow with the field that passes between each call |
| "How do I send a PDF for eSign and know when everyone has signed?" | Walks through the request, the status check and the webhook, with code |
Some clients also show the server's ready-made prompts as slash commands: integrate-kyc, debug-signcare-error and plan-kyc-flow.
Tools
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
search_docs | Search endpoints, products and guide sections. The starting point for any question |
get_endpoint | Everything about one endpoint: fields, required flags, rules, samples, response |
list_products | Every covered product, grouped by category |
get_guide | A guide or one section of it: authentication, environments, errors, rate limits, idempotency, webhooks |
validate_request | Check a request body, headers and parameters before you send it |
generate_code | Integration code in cURL, JavaScript, Python or PHP, quick or production style |
generate_webhook_handler | A webhook receiver for Aadhaar OVSE or DigiLocker |
explain_error | What an error means, the likely causes, the fix and whether to retry |
list_workflows / get_workflow | Documented multi-step flows, step by step |
about | Server version and when its knowledge was last built |
All tools are read-only.
What it covers
The server covers every SignCare API product: 148 endpoints in 17 product areas.
| Area | Examples |
|---|---|
| KYC & Identity Verification | Aadhaar OVSE, DigiLocker, Offline Aadhaar KYC, PAN, driving licence, passport, voter ID, face liveness and face match |
| KYB & Business Verification | GST, MCA company and director details, Udyam, IEC, FSSAI |
| Online document signing | eSign requests, signer status, revoke, expiry, DSC bulk sign |
| Electronic Stamping | eStamp with or without your own PDF, physical stamp paper orders |
| Bank Account Verification | Bank account and IFSC checks, bank statement analysis |
| Vehicle RC Verification | RC details, challans, FASTag and toll |
| OCR | Cheque, Form-16, GST certificate and KYC documents |
| Other | Employment, geolocation and address, financial data, credit analysis, CKYC-KRA, mobile, email, OTP, UPI and document services |
It also includes the guides on this site and 26 ready-made flows, such as full digital KYC, an eSign request tracked to completion, eStamp and sign, and company due diligence.
If something isn't covered, the assistant says so and links to the right page on this site.
How it works
The server answers only from the SignCare documentation and API reference it was built from. Generated code calls the SignCare API from your application, with your keys, which it reads from environment variables. The MCP server itself never calls the SignCare API.
Privacy and security
- Never paste API keys, webhook secrets or real customer data into an AI conversation. The tools use placeholders such as
YOUR_API_KEY, and they warn you when something looks like a real key or Aadhaar number. - The server does not store what you send it and does not log tool arguments.
- Generated code reads credentials from environment variables, and targets Stage (
uat-ext.signcare.io) by default. Test there before you switch to Live; see Environments. - Treat generated code like any code from a colleague: review it before it goes to production.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| The assistant doesn't show SignCare tools | Check the URL is exactly https://mcp.signcare.io/mcp and the transport is HTTP (not SSE or stdio). Restart the client or start a new chat |
401, or "needs authentication" | You haven't signed in yet, or your sign-in has ended (it lasts a day). Reconnect or authenticate from your assistant's MCP settings and sign in again |
| "Sign-in did not finish" or "This sign-in page has expired" | The sign-in window was left open too long (10 minutes) or was cancelled. Go back to your assistant and connect again |
| No browser window opens to sign in | Your client may not support MCP sign-in. Update it, or use the mcp-remote bridge above |
421 Invalid Host header | A proxy is changing the host name. Connect to mcp.signcare.io directly |
403 when calling from a web page | The server only accepts browser requests from its own site. Use an MCP client instead |
403 after many requests | Too many requests from your IP in a short time. Wait a few minutes |
| An answer looks out of date | Ask the assistant to run about to see when the knowledge was built, and check the linked docs page |
